Tayeb Al Awadhi , Vice President of Power and Desalination at DUBAL, has an obsession to improve the availability, reliability and efficiency of the Combined Cycle Power Plants and Co-generation Plant that constitute the generating capacity of 2,334 MW at DUBAL’s Jebel Ali smelter complex.
Tayeb holds a Masters Degree in Engineering Science, from University Collage Dublin, Ireland in 1991 and joined DUBAL in the same year as a Project Engineer. His vast experience as Efficiency, Commissioning, Project and Maintenance Engineer/Manager led to his current post. He is also a member of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers.
Under Tayeb’s leadership, DUBAL’s P&D operations have successfully achieved world-class safety, health and environmental (land, water and air) targets as set by international, regional and local municipal agencies. He has also helped to raise the profile of DUBAL substantially within Dubai, and contributed to significant improvements in the company’s EHS performance on all fronts.
His lean-lean approach to implementation has resulted in major-cost saving initiatives. DUBAL’s Power & Desalination operations are the most cost-effective among similar industries, both regionally as internationally. Driven to find innovative solutions, Tayeb’s use of 9E components in 9B machines had never been tried elsewhere and was a first even for the manufacturers. Moreover, through effective negotiation, Tayeb has saved DUBAL over $5 million via long-term service and supply agreements with OEMs.
